The Procedure
- Breast lift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under general or local anesthesia.
- Depending on the type of correction needed, your surgery may take between one and a half to three and a half hours.
- An incision is created along the front of the breast through which your breast tissue is lifted and repositioned.

You’ve Just Had a Breast Lift! Now What?
After breast lift surgery, most patients experience the following regarding their recovery timeline:

Immediately After
You will experience bruising and swelling immediately following your surgery. Your stitches will be covered with gauze, and a surgical bra will hold your breasts in place. Pain medication may be prescribed to control any associated discomfort.
1 Week After
At the end of week one or into the second week, your stitches will be removed. You may notice some initial scarring. You should avoid all strenuous physical activities during this time. You should be able to return to work after the first week.
2 Weeks After
By three or four weeks you should be able to resume your regular exercise routine. You may still have swelling that will affect the appearance of your breasts. You should still wear a support bra to help maintain the shape of your breasts.
6 Weeks After
You should be back to all normal activities, and most major swelling should have subsided. Minor swelling can last for six to nine months. However, the majority of your breast results should be noticeable at this time.
